2014 Review

2014 has probably been the most consistent year for me as a coach/bike fitter/nutritionist. There were ups and downs, but the ups trumped the down quite significantly, which increases my confidence going into 2015. A lot more to learn, but isn't that always the case?

In no particular order...

  • Michael Milic & Rowan Doherty in top 10 at junior nationals. Also a podium for Michael at USAT junior event & podium for team BC (with Michael & Rowan) in the relay at nationals
  • Dylan Gleeson taking top age grouper & 9th overall at Ironman Canada and getting off the bike 1st in the M30-34 AG (also top 10 AG bike split) in Kona
  • Robert Johnson winning Olympic distance M30-34 in Edmonton world championships (also 3rd AG overall) and 3rd in the sprint distance (he also won every race he entered throughout the season...)
  • Tyler Woodbury, 7th (M20-24) in Kona
  • Justine Clift 6th in her first UCI race (Gatineau Grand Prix)
  • Victoria Gilbert defying odds post car vs bike accident to compete at Kona
  • Everyone else I coach. I am careful choosing who I want to work with, so I am proud of ALL my athletes accomplishments, in training and in racing

Other 2014 professional highlights include getting Pacific Tri-Works off the ground, doing around 250 bike fits and getting included in the Triathlon Canada performance coaching stream (its a new, exciting era for triathlon performance coaching in Canada, in my opinion). I have some major goals for 2015 and so do my athletes... What are your goals? If there is anything coaching/sport science related you need a helping hand with - get in touch
